LEARNING

Early Years

“Our Early Years program is crafted to cater to the holistic development of young children, focusing on nurturing their innate curiosity, creativity, and social-emotional skills. Through a well-rounded curriculum, we aim to provide a solid foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth, organized into three key areas of development: Exploratory Learning, Social-Emotional Development, and Creative Expression.

Exploratory Learning encompasses various subjects such as Science, Mathematics, and Language Development, aimed at fostering children’s natural sense of wonder and inquiry about the world around them.

Social-Emotional Development focuses on building strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and self-awareness through activities that promote empathy, teamwork, and conflict resolution.

Creative Expression is encouraged through avenues like Art and Sensory Play, Music and Movement, and Outdoor Exploration, allowing children to express themselves freely and develop their imagination and motor skills.

Our Early Years program lays the groundwork for a smooth transition into later stages of education, preparing children for academic success and personal fulfillment as they progress through their educational journey.”

Nurturing Young Minds, Building Bright Futures

Our Early Years program is dedicated to nurturing the unique potential of each child, laying the foundation for a future filled with success and fulfillment. Through a supportive and enriching environment, we guide our youngest learners towards becoming confident, compassionate, and curious individuals.

Inspiring Wonder, Cultivating Creativity

At our Early Years, we believe in fostering a sense of wonder and imagination in every child, sparking their creativity and love for learning. Through playful exploration and hands-on activities, we cultivate a lifelong passion for discovery and innovation.

Exploring Today, Succeeding Tomorrow

Our Early Years curriculum is designed to provide children with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. By encouraging exploration, critical thinking, and problem-solving from an early age, we prepare our students for success not only in school but also in life beyond the classroom.

OUR EDUCATIONAL APPROACH

Our Early Years programme offers an opportunity to share knowledge, memories and experiences to last a lifetime.

The period between 4 and 5 is recognised as a distinct stage of learning when children learn best through active play and investigation, which builds on their individual needs and interests.

We know that young children have a wide range of different experiences, skills and interests when they join a setting or school at age four or five. They need a well planned and resourced curriculum to take their learning forward and to provide opportunities for them to succeed in an atmosphere of care and in a place where they feel valued.

Our Early Learning Programme is organised to provide educational development in the following areas

  • Social and personal learning: Your child will learn to be self –confident, take an interest in things, know what their own needs are and tell the difference between right and wrong. They will also learn to take responsibility.
  • Language learning and communication: Your child will learn to talk confidently and clearly, enjoying stories, songs and poems, hearing and saying sounds, and linking them to the alphabet. With time, they will read and write some familiar words and learn to use a pencil.
  • Early mathematical understanding: Your child will develop an understanding of Maths through stories, songs, games and imaginative play. They will become comfortable with numbers and with ideas such as ‘heavier than ’ or ‘bigger’. They will be aware of shapes and space.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world: Your child will explore and find out about the world around them, asking questions about it. They will build with different materials, know about everyday technology, and learn what it is used for. They will find out about past events in their lives, and in their families. They will find out about different cultures and beliefs.
  • Creative development: In terms of creative development your child will explore colours and shapes, trying out dance, making things, telling stories and making music.
  • Health and physical learning: Your child will learn to move and control their body with confidence as well as the equipment that may be involved.

These goals do not put pressure on your child as most of the time they feel they are just playing and having fun. Sometimes they choose what they want to do. At other times they take part in activities that help them learn how to concentrate or develop a particular skill.

Our Daily Routine

Early Years 4 & 5

Following a consistent routine day after day gives children the sense of security they need to make choices and take risks, which opens the door to exciting learning opportunities. We follow a daily routine that is adapted to the children’s interests or needs. The length of time we spend during one part of our day may change from one day to the next but the pattern or order of events throughout each day are consistent and predictable.

Routines, unlike schedules, are flexible enough to allow children and teachers to take advantage of learning moments that may occur throughout the day. Our Early Years routine is also adaptable to allow for extracurricular activities, unplanned events or other opportunities that may arise throughout the day..
For parents of children in Early Years 5 we have a ‘Communication Folder’. At the beginning of every week our administration shares a document that details the theme of the week a long with units that will be covered, learning goals and information about any celebrations or School activities.
